Disabled Veteran Homestead Property Tax Exemption

Florida grants property tax discounts and exemptions to disabled veterans; those with a 100% permanent service-connected disability may qualify for a full homestead exemption.

Eligibility: Three separate programs: (a) 10%+ service-connected disability qualifies for a $5,000 property tax exemption (F.S. 196.24); (b) 100% permanent and total service-connected disability qualifies for a full homestead exemption (F.S. 196.081); (c) age 65+ with a combat-related disability qualifies for a homestead discount equal to the disability percentage (F.S. 196.082).

Estimated value: Partial discount to full exemption of homestead property taxes

How to apply: File the exemption application with your county property appraiser.
