Veterans' Civil Service Examination Preference

Ohio adds credit to passing civil service examination scores for veterans and for reserve/National Guard members who have completed initial entry-level training.

Eligibility: Honorably discharged veteran (20% added credit) or current reserve/National Guard member who completed initial entry-level training (15% added credit); must first achieve a passing exam score.

Estimated value: 20% (veterans) or 15% (reserve/Guard) added to a passing civil service exam grade

How to apply: Claim the preference and submit your DD-214 when applying and testing for Ohio civil service positions.
